The Freelander, Land Rovers First Compact SUV

Land Rover Freelander 1

The Land Rover Freelander was introduced to the market in 1997. It was an exciting time for Land Rover as it was the first compact SUV in Land Rovers model range, designed to compete with other small 4x4s that were starting to emerge on to the automotive market in the mid 1990’s.

When is a Haldex oil service due on my Land Rover?

When is a Haldex Oil Service due on my Land Rover?

If you own a Freelander 2* or an Evoque*, it will have a Haldex all-wheel drive system that allows your vehicle to automatically distribute the power between the front and rear wheels. Unlike a traditional four-wheel drive system, the Haldex system uses an oil pressure-activated clutch coupling system on the rear differential that activates when the ECU requests it. This allows your Land Rover to benefit from the economy of a front-wheel drive system when driving in everyday conditions and will switch to an all-wheel drive system when required.
