Have you experienced a split Intercooler Hose? This is a very common problem on the Discovery 3 and Range Rover Sport TDV6 engines. The intercooler to inlet manifold rubber pipe splits, causing an air leak under turbo boost.
A split intercooler hose can cause a lack of performance, black smoke from the exhaust and the vehicle going into limp mode, as the engine’s ECU detects a problem with not enough air getting into the engine.
The split is normally very easy to see at the top of the pipe as can be seen on this photo. Luckily this is a relatively easy DIY fix.
A replacement rubber hose is readily available from JGS4x4
