It was a nice November frosty morning on Sunday 26th, when we made our way to NAEC Stoneleigh in Warwickshire for The Great British Land Rover Show. I’m glad the Tomcat has a heated front windscreen as it saves scraping on the cold winter mornings!
When I arrived, I was guided into position on the line up at the entrance to the show, and parked next to Landy – the real life character of Veronica Lamond author and illustrator of Landybooks (see her on Facebook too – Landy and Friends)
Landy is a 1956 Series One Land Rover. In the book this is rescued by Jack from the bottom of a field and starts a new life.
The other side of me was a 110 with V8 engine and some nice new Range Rovers opposite with an early classic example too. Once set up there was a variety of stands set out over two halls, sponsored by Rimmer Bros, Lancaster Insurance, All Wheel Drive Club, NWS Motor Services and the Landy who did an article on the Tomcat a few months back.
It was great to catch up with old friends and customers at the show. I got talking to some fellow Mac 4X4 competitors who are signed up for one of Max Adventures – Driven to extremes adventures for “Extreme North UK” where they are heading up to the Shetland for 10 days.
All Wheel Drive Club ran and marshalled the 2.4 mile off-road course. As my vehicle was on display, I didn’t get to get out on the course at Stoneleigh but if you did in your vehicle tell us what you thought of the course in the comments.
